My 2 girlfriends and I had the unfortunate experience of encountering Carolyn and Dave this past Friday. We made reservations a month prior after reading reviews and looking at the website. We were all so taken aback by Carolyn's attitude when we "tried " to check in. We were not greeted, or helped in with our luggage. Instead, we were told that no food was allowed in the room. Then Carolyn proceeded to tell us that it would be an extra $50 for the third person (extra toiletries and she electric). Ridiculous! Then, Carolyn left to ask the "chef", Dave, how much more it would be for the breakfast for the 3rd person. Dave came out and told us that the hotel info is all over the website and he didn't understand why WE were confused! Apparently, this is a couples retreat. Three professional young women , expecting to have a little getaway were treated with such rudeness ! There was never an offer to help us find any different accommodations. We were judged the second we headed into the lobby! A couple about our same age came in after us and were immediately welcomed and helped to their room without any question! We were clearly discriminated against!
We hope to return and invite some other couples to join us!
My wife and I just returned from enjoying the professional and warm hospitality, the immaculate and like-new facilities and simply outstanding food.
The property is a peaceful little escape that was very accessible. Our room was immaculate and like-new with high-end finishes and furnishings.
The owners are very accommodating too. Between Carolyn's hospitality and Chef Dave's culinary skills, you can't help but totally enjoy! My wife & I are excited about our upcoming return visit!!
Dave and Carolyn have made sure every luxurious detail has been well thought out and taken care of. While every piece of River Spring Lodge is incredible my personal favorite is the food. It seems everything is made in house, from scratch. Dave even dry ages steaks in house and uses the latest cooking methods to provide steaks unrivaled by anywhere else in Buffalo.
Great find! Good service and great food in Western New York. Family friendly. Host took time to talk with table. Has elegant rooms for overnight stay.
Whether you want to get away from the noise of traffic, or enjoy elegant cuisine, or rest in the luxury of a high class room, River Spring is the spot! I've been several times and have always been more than satisfied. The tastefully decorated rooms and lounge areas make one feel refreshed!
Nestled in the woods of western New York, it's a great place to take a relaxing walk and take in the beautiful, natural setting.
Chef Dave and Carolyn are true professionals with decades of experience. Every detail is thoughtfully seen to and graciously provided. They are a creative and helpful duo who bent over backwards to take care of us and our particular needs.
